What’s the difference between an infrared sauna and a traditional sauna?

Infrared saunas differ from traditional saunas because they operate at a temperature of 90-145 F compared to a traditional sauna that operates at 185-230 F. This allows you to be able to breathe comfortably and enjoy the benefits for extended periods of time. Because the infrared rays safely and comfortably penetrate the skin up to 2″ deep, even your organs and deep tissues are stimulated. This induces sweating 2-3 times as much as a conventional sauna.

Are infrared sauna’s safe?

Far infra red rays or FIR are completely safe and beneficial to the human body. They are so safe that doctors use them in hospitals to warm newborn babies. FIR are naturally occurring and are the beneficial portion of sunlight that we can receive. There have been numerous research studies on the health benefits of having regular infrared sauna treatments for a variety of conditions. Our sauna has one of the lowest EMFR ratings of all saunas on the market and has zero VOC being made with 100% cedar.

Would I benefit from regular infrared sauan treatments?

Infrared saunas can be used for a variety of active ailments, or by the general public for prevention, detoxification and relaxation Some of the researched based health benefits include weight loss, pain relief, immune system modulation, injury healing, reduced stress and induces relaxation, improves the look and health of the skin, improve the cardiovascular system, improves symptoms os seasonal affective disorder.

How does a session work at the clinic?

If you are an existing patient with Dr. Redvers, ND, you just need to call in to book your appointment with the front desk and ask for a quick review of your file by the doctor to ensure you are a good candidate for sessions. If you have not been seen by the naturopathic doctor you will be required to have a 15 minute sauna consult to ensure you are a good candidate for use of the sauna including a medication and health complaint review as well as a blood pressure and vital sign check. Once approved for sessions you can call whenever you please but are asked to alert the front desk if you have had changes to your medication or your health status, or have not used the sauna in the previous six month. You will be provided with towels, and access to fresh water during a treatment. You are welcome to bring your own reading material or music for the built in music player if you desire something different then the clinics on hand choices.
